Making Your Own Vuba Vertical Primer Paste
Making Your Own Vuba Vertical Primer Paste
Materials Needed
- Fumed silica (Cabosil) – 4 to 5 liters (1–1.25 US gallons) per part
- Part A and Part B (resin system)
- Catalyst (follow manufacturer’s guide)
- 5-gallon mixing pail
- Mixing tools (drill mixer or paddle)
- Measuring containers
- Protective gear (gloves, mask, goggles)

Breathing fumed silica dust can cause serious lung damage and severe respiratory irritation.

Avoid all inhalation—use protective gear and handle only in well-ventilated areas.
Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
- Ensure a clean, well-ventilated area.
- Wear appropriate protective gear.
- Have all materials and tools ready.
Step 2: Mix Fumed Silica into Part A
- Pour approximately ½ of the Part A bucket into a mixing container.
- Gradually add 4 to 5 liters (1–1.25 gallons) of fumed silica.
- Mix thoroughly until the consistency is slightly thicker than Vaseline.
Step 3: Mix Fumed Silica into Part B
- Pour approximately ½ of the Part B bucket into a separate container.
- Gradually add 4 to 5 liters (1–1.25 gallons) of fumed silica.
- Mix until the texture resembles a very hard snowball or tennis ball squishiness.

On hotter days, add more fumed silica, especially to Part B, to maintain consistency.
Step 4: Combine Part A and Part B
- In a clean 5-gallon pail, add:
- A softball-sized scoop of Part A
- A softball-sized scoop of Part B
- Add the catalyst according to the manufacturer’s guide.
- Blend thoroughly.
Step 5: Add Dry Mix
- In another clean 5 gallon pail, add ¼ bucket of blended dry rock.
- Add 1 softball size of combined Part A and B from Step 4.
- Then add another ¼ bucket of dry blended rock, totalling half of a 5 gallon bucket.
- Blend thoroughly.
Step 6: Test Consistency
- Test the paste on the inside wall of the bucket.
- If it sags or falls, add more fumed silica to thicken, ½ litre at a time
- Mix again and retest.
Final Notes

This is a general guideline—adjust based on temperature and working conditions.

The goal is to achieve a 1:1 mix ratio of thickened Part A and B for a usable paste.
